The city of Beaverton is located in northern Oregon (JOBS)eight miles (13 kilometers) southwest of Portland. It is part of Washington County and home to 76,129 people.
Situated in the heart of the Tualatin Valley, Beaverton got its name from a nearby beaver dam. The Beaverton Farmers' Market is one of the city's best known attractions, and features the freshest produce from 100 growers, live music, and the old-fashioned charm of an open-air market. On the local arts scene, the Community Band holds several annual performances, while the Beaverton Arts Commission provides a diverse array of cultural programs throughout the year.
Beaverton boasts more than 100 parks, or one park within half a mile (one kilometer) of every home! All of the city's parks are managed by the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District, which also organizes many sports and recreational activities. Golf enthusiasts will find two courses within the city limits, along with the spectacular Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club and Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club within a 15-minute drive. For the Epicureans among us, the Tualatin Valley is home to 77 vineyards, specializing in the production of Pinot Noir grapes and the world-class vintages they produce.
