Ontario is a city in San Bernardino County , located 37 miles east of Los Angeles (JOBS), 24 miles west of San Bernardino (JOBS), and 18 miles northwest of Riverside.
Ontario, a community of more than 170,000, was founded in 1882, and was named for the Canadian province of Ontario by its founders, a pair of Canadian engineers. As explained on the city's website, "Founded as a Model Colony, based on innovation, planned development, community service and family values, the City of Ontario has become the economic heart of the region." The community's economy is mixed, and includes agriculture, warehousing, and services.
The city enjoys 312 days of sun a year, and has moderate temperatures and low humidity year-round. A great place to enjoy the outdoors is at Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park, a 150-acre (61-hectare) day use park with opportunities for swimming, fishing, picnicking, and more. The city itself has two golf courses, a nine-hole and an 18-hole, and there are many more in the vicinity.
