The city of Warren is located in eastern Michigan (JOBS) just 11 miles (18 kilometers) north of Detroit. It is part of Macomb County, and is home to 138,247 people.
The community was named after General Joseph Warren, and became incorporated as a city in 1957. Warren is home to a variety of businesses, including General Motors' Technical Center, the United States Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM), and the headquarters of Big Boy Restaurants International.
Although it's the largest suburb in the Metro Detroit area, Warren offers a "small town lifestyle," along with a lively cultural scene. The Warren Fine Arts Center houses a fine collection of works in its gallery, and also offers classes and workshops for all ages. For a great show, head to the Warren Civic Theatre or the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, where you'll find outstanding shows by both local and touring artists. Warren is also home to a variety of musical organizations, including a symphony orchestra, a concert band, community chorus, and the Polonaise Strings and Musica Polonica group.
Michigan’s vast life-science industry is another reason to settle in Warren. Michigan is home to a wide variety of biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, some of which include, i3, Pfizer, Aastrom Biosciences, Inc., Asterand, Inc., QuatRx Pharmaceuticals, Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Ltd., Cerenis Therapeutics, Inc., and Compendia Bioscience.
