  • Sugar Land, Texas, (JOBS) is located near the Gulf of Mexico, five miles (eight kilometers) west of Stafford and 21 miles (34 kilometers) southwest of Houston. It is part of Fort Bend County, and is home to 63,328 people.

    As you've probably guessed, this city was built and developed around the sugar industry. Samuel M. Williams first established a sugar plantation and mill here in the early 1800s. The plantation changed hands several times, and eventually became the Imperial Sugar refining plant in the early 1900s. Want to learn more?
