  • Irving (JOBS) is located in Dallas County , Texas. The city was named after famous American writer, Washington Irving, who wrote classics such as the spooky favorite, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Of course, for those of us who love horses, even more interesting is that Irving's Williams Square is the site of the world's largest equestrian sculpture, The Mustangs of Las Colinas.

In Irving, you're perfectly set to access everything that the Metroplex has to offer, as it's located a mere 12 miles (19 kilometers) northwest of downtown Dallas, and only 28 miles (45 kilometers) northeast of downtown Fort Worth. And it's only about eight miles (13 kilometers) northwest to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport when you're interested in a little – or a big – getaway!

In town, there are many parks, recreation facilities, fields, and playgrounds to enjoy, as well as six seasonal pools and a year-round indoor facility, North Lake Aquatic Center. Additionally, there more than 60 lakes within a 100-mile (160-kilometer) radius of Dallas/Fort Worth. To see the range of state parks and historic sites within 100 miles of the Metroplex, see Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Irving is home to several corporate headquarters, including that of energy giant ExxonMobile. It's also the headquarters of the national office of Boy Scouts of America and of Texas Stadium, the home field of the Dallas Cowboys.
