Wayne, New Jersey (JOBS) is a community of 54,069, located in northern New Jersey's
Passaic
County. Wayne is located eight miles (13 kilometers)
west of Paterson,
19 miles (31 kilometers) northwest of Newark,
and 22 miles (35 kilometers) northeast of Manhattan.
The community's history dates to the late 1600s, and
it was named for Revolutionary War General Anthony
Wayne, who had the nickname "Mad Anthony."
Wayne has a number of lakes, with distinct communities
and neighborhoods located around them. The community
is home to the 1153.7-acre (466.89-hectare) High
Mountain Park Preserve, a protected area of the
Preakness Range of the Watchung Mountains. For those
who prefer the indoors, it is also home to the fourth-largest
mall in New Jersey, Willowbrook Mall.
Wayne is an attractive place to settle because the state of New Jersey is home to some of the biggest biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the country. The New Jersey Transit and major turnpikes are helpful for commuters.
