  • White Plains (JOBS), is situated only 25 miles (40 kilometers) north of downtown Manhattan, in south central Westchester County, midway between the Hudson River and Long Island Sound. The city has a resident population of approximately 53,077, which greatly expands during the workday thanks to the presence of suburban business and government offices and large retail centers.

The site of the city had long been farmland for the local Native population, when European settlers first arrived in the 17th century. As a result of this long history, there are several sites of historical interest to visit, including Jacob Purdy House, which dates to the early 1700s, and the White Plains Rural Cemetery, which was first used in 1797.

White Plains is a green city, with more than 20% of its land open spaces, and the county has 18,000 acres (7,284 hectares) of parkland, beaches, trails, golf courses, pools and boating facilities. The city is well placed as a gateway to Manhattan, New England, the historic towns and sites of the Hudson River Valley, and Upstate New York.

White Plains is home to an array of biotech and pharma companies including Pfizer Inc., Hogil Pharmaceutical Company, and Nippon Kayaku America Inc.
