Today, clinical research has emerged as a multi-disciplinary field that requires a highly trained diverse workforce. As academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology, clinical research organizations (CRO), government agencies, and other related industries continue to explore innovative ways to meet unmet medical needs, clinical research positions have expanded to meet the needs of patients, their families, and society.

The challenge is to move these discoveries as quickly as possible without a compromise in safety, efficacy, or quality. These discoveries or advances include investigations into medications, devices, biologicals, and /or technology.

The Campbell University School of Pharmacy offers a unique program to address the demands for personnel in the clinical research field. Both a Bachelor of Science (BS) and Masters of Science (MS) program have been in existence for five years. The BS program is offered on the universities main campus in Buies Creek North Carolina while the MS program is offered in the Research Triangle Park. Each program educates students to enter careers in the clinical research field. In addition, a new dual/joint degree PharmD/ MSCR program has been established.

Students pursue studies in clinical research concepts, study design, project management, new drug development, regulatory affairs, devices, statistics, data management, quality assurance, medial ethics and others. The opportunity exists to explore career paths across all components of Phase I - IV studies.
