NOGLSTP is a national organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people (and their advocates) employed or interested in scientific or high technology fields. NOGLSTP's goals include dialogue with professional organizations, disseminating information, improving our members employment and professional environment, opposing anti-queer discrimination and stereotypes, educating the queer, scientific, and general communities, and fostering inter-city contacts among our members. We are a non-profit educational organization under IRS section 501(c)(3), and are an affiliate of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

The goals of the National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals, Inc. include:

  • Work to eliminate stereotypes and discrimination against homosexuals by demonstrating the presence of gay and lesbian colleagues in the workplace and by providing role models of successful gay and lesbian scientific and technical professionals
  • Educate gay, scientific, and general communities by offereing gay and lesbian perspectives on contemporary issues relevant to science and society
  • Improve our members' professional and employment environments by promoting written nondiscrimination policies for all companies, institutions of learning, and governmental agencies
  • Disseminate information on workplace diversity management, homophobia, employment discrimination, gay and lesbian health issues and AIDS, demographics of the gay and lesbian population, and topics in which science impacts the gay community to local, state, and national governmental bodies and educational forums
  • Engage in a dialog with professional organizations and societies
  • Foster regional contacts and networks among members
  • Provide peer group support to members in a safe environment
  • Foster debate and exploration within the scientific community in order to understand the impact of science on society, and of society on science and scientists
