Setaram Inc. (Pensauken, NJ and Caluire, France), a leading manufacturer of Thermal Analysis and
calorimetry instruments announces the acquisition of Hy-Energy LLC (Newark, CA), a manufacturer of high
performance gas sorption scientific instruments for the ever-expanding field of clean renewable energy
research.
“This acquisition adds a full suite of analytical capabilities which complement Setaram Instruments' existing
Thermal Analysis and calorimetry product lines” said Gilles Widawski, President of Setaram Instrumentation,
Caluire France, parent Company of Setaram Inc. “Both Setaram’s and Hy-Energy’s current customers will
benefit from the broader range of capabilities.”
“The integration of Hy-Energy with Setaram further strengthens Setaram Instruments North American
operations and provides us a physical presence on the West Coast, closer to many of our customers,” said
Gary Etherington, President of Setaram Inc. (USA).
“We are extremely pleased to become part of Setaram and enhance their calorimetry line with our gas
sorption products,” said Dr. Karl Gross, founder of Hy-Energy LLC. “With Setaram’s worldwide distribution
and service, the transaction will improve Hy-Energy’s ability to sell to and service customers worldwide. I
look forward to working with them to further develop our products and assist of our customers.”
The acquisition of Hy-Energy comes just weeks after Setaram Instrumentation announced a strategic
distribution partnership with Microcal which is aimed at enhancing the level of sales and support of MicroCal
products across Europe. These important developments are certain to enhance Setaram’s product line
offerings and strengthen its position as a world leader in providing scientific instruments for the fields of life
science, pharma, hydrogen, nuclear, oil & gas, advanced materials and chemical process safety.
For sixty years, Setaram Instrumentation (Caluire, France) has been the global supplier of solutions in thermal analysis and
calorimetry, a domain of increasing importance for scientists in academic, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, oil and gas, nuclear,
process safety and advanced materials. Setaram Instrumentation systems generate unique data from nano to macro thermal events,
from very low temperature to 2400°C, and from high vacuum to 1000 bars . For research, development, manufacture and wear testing,
these data give insight into material functionality and play a key role in the critical decision-making required for the efficient development
and production of new materials.
Founded in 2000 by Dr. Karl Gross, Hy-Energy (Newark, Ca) provides scientific instruments, consulting and measurement services for
testing gas sorption properties of materials including hydrogen absorbing alloys, complex hydrides, and high surface-area hydrogen and
other gas sorption materials. Hy-Energy’s analytical instruments also offer solutions in the field of food packaging (gas permeability) and
catalysis (chemical and petrochemical industry. Dr. Gross is committed to supporting Setaram and Hy-Energy in the future development
of products, materials testing and customer relations.
