Queensland Compound Library Expands Sample Management and Storage Capacity with Hamilton Company

7/30/2009 2:54:44 PM

Queensland, Australia and Hopkinton, Mass., (July 30, 2009) –Queensland Compound Library (QCL) announced today an expansion of its microplate management capability with the addition of a second asmStore module from Hamilton Storage Technologies. QCL, which serves a wide range of research organizations and academic researchers in Australia and New Zealand, requires a unique level of flexibility in its systems. As the only dedicated compound facility in the region, QCL provides storage, tracking and delivery of samples in both tubes and plates.

“The modularity of the Hamilton plate management systems is ideal for our facility,” commented Dr. David Camp, director of QCL. “We are not only growing rapidly, but we also have hundreds of research users in different settings. We must provide everything from open access to some parts of our library to very limited access to other samples. The Hamilton asmServer and asmStore system is very easy to expand. The units have been robust and reliable, with no performance issues.”

The asmStore has been added to QCL’s asmServerST, which is the hub of the plate management system and includes Hamilton’s SealTite™ technology for automatic microplate lidding and unlidding. The system was easily integrated with QCL’s overall software system and third-party equipment.

“Queensland Compound Library is the ideal facility to benefit from the modularity of our asm systems,” commented Matt Hamilton, vice president for Hamilton Storage Technologies. “As the library continues to expand in terms of the number of compounds it stores and manages, we will easily be able to add capacity to accommodate the customer’s needs.”

QCL was established with funds from the Queensland State Government and Griffith University to serve and coordinate access between chemists and life science researchers in Australia and New Zealand.
