Novus Scientific Release: TIGR(R) Matrix Goes Large at the World Hernia Congress 2012

SINGAPORE, March 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Novus Scientific, manufacturer of TIGR® MatrixSurgical Mesh, the world's first long-term resorbable (100% absorbable) synthetic mesh, presents new data and products at the 5th International Hernia Congress in the Big Apple.

Novus Scientific is proud to present a 20cm x 30cm TIGR® Matrix to complement the original 10cm x 15cm version. 20cm x 30cm is a standard size for a wide range of procedures requiring a larger mesh, and as many surgeons around the world are delighted to discover, there is nothing standard about TIGR® Matrix.The larger size will further broaden surgeons' options when looking to offer patients the best possible care without leaving a legacy of permanent material, and at a fraction of the cost of a biologic mesh.

In addition, a poster presentation of pre-clinical data showing differences in the quality of connective tissue following repair with TIGR® Matrix compared to a permanent polypropylene mesh will be presented. The data, published in HERNIA, will be available at the Novus Scientific Exhibit Booth (#115) throughout the congress and attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Henrik Hjort, author of the report and co-inventor of TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh.

Another poster presentation by Swedish surgeons will present previously unpublished data generated in a unique, clinical study covering 2 years of functional mesh implantation of TIGR® Matrix (first-in-man).

Sportsmen's hernia have been a hot topic recently and Dr. Bruce Ramshaw MD, secretary/treasurer of AHS, will be presenting a poster describing an exceptional outcome using TIGR® Matrix for this much discussed condition.
