Maxant Technologies, Inc. Achieves Medical Grade Standing For Its Space-saving, Integrated Digital Workstation

3/28/2006 12:11:22 PM

NILES, Ill., March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Maxant Technologies, a leader in displaying medical images for more than three decades, announced it has received 510k clearance from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to market its MediPort line of fully integrated digital workstations. The 510k clearance provides Maxant with the ability to market the MediPort as a safe and effective platform for PACS and DICOM viewing software. The areas for intended use of the MediPort include all hospital environments as well as imaging centers, physicians' offices and clinical laboratories. The 510k clearance marks a significant milestone in the MediPort product development cycle.

In addition to the FDA 510k clearance, the MediPort meets all of the stringent specifications of the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 60606-01 classification for medical safety standards.

According to Maxant's COO, John Patterson, "The continuing evolution of digital applications in radiology is expanding electronic imaging outside of traditional diagnostic viewing environments and into sensitive patient care areas. As this occurs, it is essential that healthcare facilities furnish their staff with FDA-cleared medical devices that also meet the rigorous UL safety standards when viewing electronic images."

"We designed the MediPort as a multi-faceted solution that provides the feature-rich functionality of advanced digital workstations in a format that meets all appropriate approvals and is also conducive to conserving space in today's crowded medical centers. Healthcare facilities can be assured that this medical-grade piece of equipment will satisfy a commitment to both quality diagnostic care as well as complete patient safety," Patterson says.
