May 14, 2012 -- Jumpstart, the rapidly expanding Scottish R&D tax credit specialist, is launching a major recruitment drive which will create 40 top quality jobs for the best of the UK's scientific and business talent.
The Edinburgh-based company is increasing its expert business analyst team by 20 people and its specialist technical analyst team by the same number in order to keep pace with burgeoning demand for its services from sectors across the UK.
The new additions to the team - expected to be in place by the end of the summer - will take Jumpstart's total headcount to 100 - an exponential growth rate driven by a rapidly-expanding client portfolio, which now includes some of the biggest names in British business.
The technical analysts, who are vital to the success of submissions to HMRC will be expected to have at least a BSc 2/1 but more likely will be educated to PhD level. The business analysts will be expected to have impeccable business experience and UK-wide contacts.
Brian Williamson, managing director at Jumpstart, said: "The people we are looking for are the best in breed. These are top quality positions and our analysts will be required to understand and assimilate the complexities of a wide range of operations.
"Technical analysts will typically be the best scientific graduates of their year. They will have some business experience and they will be in the early stages of building a successful and rewarding career.
"The business analysts we are looking for will be more mature, with a powerful business history. They will be client-facing, they will have their own war stories and they will be able to build a rapport with business people across sectors."
The additional employment opportunities come at a time of extraordinary growth for Jumpstart which, since its inception in 2008, has built a turnover of £3 million which is set to rise to at least £5m next year with current contracts alone and a portfolio of clients approaching 1000.
Mr Williamson said: “New business is developing at such a rate that we have made the strategic decision to staff up substantially in order to avoid any possibility of overstretch with the concomitant danger of not being able to offer a top quality service to our clients.
“We are gaining this new business because of our extraordinary success rate in submissions to HMRC of 98.6% of the claims which we have taken on – significantly boosting the bottom line of companies across the UK.”
Jumpstart is solely focused on presenting detailed, accurate and compliant submissions to HMRC. It employs teams with the scientific and technical knowledge to identify and justify eligible projects for R&D submission. It deals directly with the staff involved in development to extract the relevant information which explains why the project meets HMRC criteria for eligibility.
After refining its report in conjunction with key staff, it creates a comprehensive financial schedule which allows HMRC to see exactly how the total claimed is broken down and justified.
After guiding the process through HMRC, Jumpstart secures, almost without fail, a tax benefit for the company in the form of a payable cash credit, a tax rebate, or an enhanced deduction that can be used against future profits.
