Idaho Technology Inc. Patents Melting Curve Analysis with Exponential Background Subtraction
1/13/2012 6:41:26 AM
SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Idaho Technology, Inc. (ITI) is pleased to announce that U.S. Patent Application No. 12/067,642, titled “Melting Curve Analysis with Exponential Background Subtraction,” issued November 28, 2011 as U.S. Patent No. 8,068,992. This patent is owned by the University of Utah Research Foundation, is exclusively licensed to ITI, and covers background subtraction methods for melting curve display and analysis. The described methods align melting peaks more precisely, allowing for finer levels of Tm discrimination, and are used in LightScanner®, LightScanner 32 and Filmarray® analysis software. This patent joins 71 previously issued PCR-related patents owned by or licensed to the company, reinforcing ITI’s PCR expertise and intellectual property ownership. Listed inventors are Robert Palais, Ph.D., and Carl Wittwer, M.D. Ph.D., of the University of Utah.
