TORONTO, May 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cedara Software, a Merge Healthcare company and a leading independent developer of medical software technologies for the global healthcare market, announced an agreement with Biotronics3D, Ltd., that grants the London-based software company a license to market C4 enabled versions of its 3Dnet Suite(TM) family of 3D visualization software*. Under the agreement, Biotronics3D will distribute C4 enabled Biotronics3D applications to the growing number of OEMs that are adopting the C4 framework and other C4 clinical application modules from Cedara and its other partners.

The C4 (Cedara Clinical Control Center) platform is a software framework that enables a host application to obtain plug-and-play access to a diverse array of clinical application modules after completing a one-time integration. C4 enabled plug-in modules can be launched from any C4 enabled host, a PACS or clinical workstation for example. The growing portfolio of C4 enabled plug-in modules now includes three Biotronics3D applications (3D Virtual Colonoscopy, 3D General Diagnostic and 3D angiography*) and Cedara's own C4 enabled applications, including I-ReadMammo(TM)** (mammography), PET/CT** and OrthoWorks Pro Planner(TM) (orthopaedics).
"I believe the addition of the 3Dnet Suite to the growing portfolio of Cedara C4 enabled applications gives OEM suppliers of PACS workstations a convenient way to offer to healthcare providers many clinical applications that are in high demand," said Haralambos Hatzakis, CEO of Biotronics3D. "The synergies between Cedara and Biotronics3D solutions based on the C4 integration platform will help clinicians improve workflow and could help contribute to diagnostic accuracy in CT, MRI and PET studies."
"We selected Biotronics3D to be a key partner based on the obvious synergies that our solutions possess together," said Loris Sartor, president of Cedara Software. "With this agreement, Cedara significantly strengthens its portfolio of clinical solutions that we can offer customers that use C4 enabled products."
C4 enabled 3D Virtual Colonoscopy, 3D Angiography and 3D General Diagnostic modules
The Biotronics3D 3Dnet(TM) product suite is a protocol-driven set of tools that permits clinicians to intuitively visualize the patient's MRI, CT and PET studies in 3D on a standard Windows-based PC. 3Dnet(TM) can be integrated with a hospital's or imaging center's PACS or RIS/PACS to provide a seamless experience for clinicians. In addition, because 3Dnet(TM) applications do not require any proprietary or specialized hardware to operate, they may be deployed throughout the healthcare enterprise at relatively low cost.
Virtual colonoscopy: Fully integrated into the C4 framework, 3Dnet(TM) Suite Virtual Colonoscopy will enable clinicians to perform non-invasive virtual colonoscopy from CT colonography exams, affording patients a more comfortable alternative to traditional scope colonoscopy.
General Diagnostic: Fully integrated into the C4 framework, 3Dnet(TM) Suite, General Diagnostic will provide physicians with complete 3D visualization of multi-modality datasets.
Angiography: Fully integrated into the C4 framework, 3Dnet(TM) Suite Angiography will enable cardiologists to load CT angiography exams and visualize vessel structures for at-a-glance identification of structural anomalies that may correspond to aneurysm, calcifications, and stenoses.
C4 (Cedara Clinical Control Center) is an integration framework that enables clinical application integration with minimal impact on the host (e.g. PACS) software product. A C4 enabled host and clinical application provide an integrated desktop with procedure-centric workflow.
