SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 22, 2009) -
Splayfoot, also called "fallen arch"
occurs when the arch of the foot collapses, with the entire sole of the
foot coming into complete or near-complete contact with the ground. An
estimated 20%-30% of Americans have this condition where the arch never
develops, or collapses in one or both feet.
Alpha Orthotics Corporation (www.alphaorthotics.com) announced today the
launch of its Medial Mid-foot Brace in the United States. The Medial
Mid-foot Brace provides longitudinal arch support, relieving mid-foot pain
caused by general foot stress and strain including splayfoot and fallen
arch. One size fits all, the same device can be worn on either the right
or left foot and the brace is thin enough to slip into non-restrictive
dress or casual shoes. The Medial Mid-foot Brace launched into Europe in
early 2009 and is available online through the Alpha Orthotics website
(www.alphaorthotics.com) and through select retailers and podiatrists
nationwide at a suggested retail price of $49.95.
"Fallen Arch is a very common problem which can cause tremendous pain,"
stated Gaby Federal, President of Alpha Orthotics Corporation. "Our Medial
Mid-foot Brace is a simple and effective pain relief device people can use
while engaging in sports activity such as running, tennis and golf, and for
people who need to be on their feet and active for work."
How Medial Mid-foot Brace Works
The Medial Mid-foot Brace system consists of a splint, a foam cushion, a
metatarsal strap and a metatarsal pad. The thin profile cushioned splint
braces the inside border of the foot. The dual strapping system provides
inward and upward support to the mid-foot, while the metatarsal pad
provides lift to the transverse arch.
About Splayfoot or Fallen Arch
Flat feet can develop as an adult ("adult acquired flatfoot") due to
injury, illness, unusual or prolonged stress to the foot, faulty
biomechanics, or as part of the normal aging process. Flat feet can also
occur in pregnant women as a result of temporary changes, due to increased
elastin (elasticity) during pregnancy. However, if developed in adulthood,
flat feet generally remain flat permanently.
