GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) To Sponsor National NBC Health And Fitness Expos

PHILADELPHIA, RALEIGH, N.C. and NEW YORK, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and NBC announced today that GSK will be a sponsor of the 2004 NBC Health and Fitness Expos. The 2-day events in major US cities are designed to improve public health by providing education, information and health screening services in a free, festive environment.

"We're delighted to be partnering with the NBC Owned Television Stations for this important national initiative to improve people's health and fitness," said Chris Viehbacher, president of US Pharmaceuticals at GSK. "These events have successfully reached hundreds of thousands of people across the country. Working with NBC, we intend to build upon this success in serving the public and improving their health."

For over ten years, the NBC Health and Fitness Expos have been attended by hundreds of thousands of people, making them the largest events of their kind in major US cities. The events attract people of all ages and are free and open to the public. As a sponsor of the NBC Health and Fitness Expos, GSK will be represented with a significant exhibition presence at events in six major markets. On-site at the health fairs, the company will provide educational materials on diseases including diabetes and asthma, tips for healthy living, and information on GSK community programs. In addition, GSK will offer free tests and screenings for lung function and blood sugar content.
