LONGMONT, Colo., July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Privately held Sunrise Medical today announced record breaking sales in North America for fiscal year 2005 ending June 30, 2005 despite industry challenges. Overall, sales increased by over 6% during this time period. The strong sales performance was driven by increased demand for the Company's innovative, market leading Quickie(R) branded mobility products as well as solid growth from the DeVilbiss(R) respiratory product portfolio.
For the full year, Sunrise experienced record mobility product sales; overall, mobility sales increased by over 10% led by a strong performance in both Quickie manual and power mobility business segments. Both categories grew significantly compared to prior year despite reimbursement challenges and increased competition. Sales for rehab power products were particularly strong showing a 13% annual increase.
The company attributed their accelerated growth to a steady stream of new products introduced during FY05 including the Quickie GT(R) rigid wheel chair, Quickie Titanium sports chairs, Guardian(R) Trek scooters and Breezy Ultra 4(R) wheel chair. The positive results were further supplied by several feature enhancements to the Quickie Freestyle(R), the company's best selling mid-wheel drive power chair.
Commenting on the company's stellar results, President of North American Commercial Operations Carey Winkel said, "The basic driver of our success remains our passionate focus on our corporate mission to improve people's lives by creating innovative, high quality products and services. Our results demonstrate that our customers clearly believe in our mission and are committed to working together with us in partnership."
Winkel went on to add, "The Company is well positioned for continued success based our commitment to world class quality, new product innovation and valued-added business solutions. As I am speaking we are now introducing several other exciting new mobility products including a pediatric version of our best selling IRIS(R) rotation in space positioning technology, a new pediatric wheel chair called the Mighty Lite(TM), several new consumer power chairs as well as a truly innovative powered modular seating system called the Perfect Fit(TM) which is designed to expand the functionality of our best selling Quickie Freestyle power chair."
President and CEO Michael Hammes concluded by saying, "This is a very exciting time at Sunrise for both our customers and employees alike. We are experiencing solid growth fueled by innovation and the best it yet to come. Later this fall the company will be launching an entire range of front-wheel, mid-wheel and rear-wheel drive power rehab wheel chairs supported by new, industry leading, world-class electronics developed as part of our partnership with Delphi. We also very encouraged by several new, innovative products we have under development at DeVilbiss that could deliver real value to our customers. Underlying all these developments, Sunrise remains keenly focused on providing quality and durability that is unmatched in our industry. We can't wait to share these new technologies and solutions with our dealer partners, clinicians and consumers."
