The Opportunity:
The Senior Project Manager serves as the global project manager for at least one clinical development program.
Will play a leading role in the implementation of a Web-based Integrated Project Management System and its expansion into Resource Capacity Planning
Work as a liaison with the Business Development Group and support R&D Strategic Analyses
Be familiar with drug development and the interdependencies of individual development activities
Motivates Planet team members and outside consultants to meet project deliverables with clear communication of expectations and consequences
Independently documents project issues, agreements and decisions in team minutes in a timely manner
Working with the project team, collect and maintain project budgets and internal resource needs and coordinate project activities in order to stay within the established spending levels
Trains team members on use of the Planet Application and the use and application of decision tools
Under guidance of Director of Project Management, act as point person for interactions with the Business Development Group at Allergan
In conjunction with Business Development detailed time and milestones and budget for in-license opportunities
Use the Enrich Portfolio tool to conduct R&D impact analysis of in-license candidates on the R&D budget & R&D Strat plan
Expertise in facilitating project teams in rapidly reaching decisions. Expertise in application of decision analysis tools. Thorough understanding of decision-makers and processes (Decision Analysis, resource planning, Critical Path Analysis)
In consultation with Director of Project Management, reports and presents project issues, timelines and development plans, with input from the team leader and other team members, to management committees
Contribute to the Strat Plan and Portfolio Management process
Liaison with Business Development group on in-license opportunities
Expert in the development of enterprise wide resource/project management software and the creation of project timelines
Implementation of Web based Project Management Software Application
Play a leading role in implementation of the Project Management Integration System (Planet)
Support expansion into Resource Capacity Planning and Departmental adoption of Planet application
Support System Integration with other software applications (SAP, CTMS)
Independently, manages the execution of global development plans for specific projects assigned
In consultation with the project team, develops, validates and maintains a global project plan, including a time and event schedule, budget, and resource requirements
Requirements
The Requirements:
Bachelor of Science is the minimal education requirement MBA is preferred
Thorough knowledge of drug development activities and worldwide regulatory/legal requirements within the pharmaceutical industry
A strong understanding of the development sciences (e.g. analytical chemistry, toxicology, microbiology, and clinical research)
Expertise in overall drug development, with working knowledge of worldwide regulatory, preclinical, clinical and operations requirements, and understanding of the complex interdependencies of individual steps
Ability to interact with all levels of management
Prior experience in management consulting is a plus
Proven ability to motivate, manage, and develop an innovative technical team
Proven ability to manage projects in a timely, cost effective fashion
Excellent analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written
Proven skills in managing and integrating groups of diverse discipline in collaborative activities
Highly developed diplomatic negotiation and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence without formal authority
Proven ability to perform independently as a project manager
Experience in the management of administrative, scientific and technical personnel
