DescriptionBuilding off the successes of previous RAMC meetings, this year’s conference is shaping up to be an exciting four days of cutting-edge scientific presentations which span multiple tracks within the field of microbial control. The following seven unique sessions will be featured:

• Natural Products for Microbial Control
• Next Generation Technologies to Track and Control Pathogens
• Healthcare Facilitie4s, Medical Products and Emergency Response
• Microbial Control of Water Systems and Environments
• Industrial Processes, Structures and Materials
• Beneficial Microbes
• Advanced Antimicrobials: Extreme Environments and Next-Generation Approaches

For the first time at RAMC, a pre-meeting workshop entitled “Navigating the regulatory pathway for antimicrobial registration.” Industry experts will provide the workshop attendees with insight into the Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and discuss strategies for overcoming testing and regulatory hurdles. Another first for RAMC, we are planning on featuring key talks in a 2017 special issue of the Journal of Industrial Microbiology and Technology. As with previous meetings, the meeting will also feature over a dozen student and industry posters during our Poster Reception on Monday October 10th.

On Sunday October 9th, Dr. William Fenical from the University of California-San Diego/Scripps Institute of Oceanography will provide the Keynote address entitled “Microbial Defenses: Lessons from the Sea”.” On Tuesday October 11th, Dr. Charles Gerba from the University of Arizona will deliver the Reception Dinner presentation entitled “Application of microbial risk assessment to quantify hygiene product intervention benefits: a lesson in germ geography and human behavior”.”

Additional anticipated features of the conference are its intimate size and technically diverse attendees. The setting allows for ample opportunity for networking. Testimonials from previous attendees have stated that this conference has been the catalyst for many new collaborations and working relationships. On a final note, we are always looking to deliver and feature the most relevant and timely subject matter at RAMC.
