Chicago, IL, U.S.A, August 10, 2011 – Zyleris PharmaTech (www.Zyleris.com) has announced the launch of a new topical formulation development service: high-throughput absorption depth profiling in stratum corneum (SC) layer for topical and transdermal formulation development.
The service combines Zyleris’ high-throughput Franz Cell formulation
screening (HTS) platform and high-speed tape-stripping technique.
Each HTS system consists of a compact 108-cell screening station with flexibility for both absorption and penetration studies. The system is fully validated against industry-standard Franz Cell technology.
Our high-speed tape-stripping technique is able to process 48 tape strips at a time, which offers consistent and uniform processing during each stripping cycle.
SC layer is the rate-limiting barrier for skin absorption and permeation. Tape-stripping technique is a standard method in studying kinetics and depth profiling of the absorption and permeation process.
Current Franz Cell technology and standard tape-stripping technique is a slow and tedious process, thus the market is ripe for a high speed, yet cost efficient solution. The combination of Zyleris’
first-in-class HTS technology and high-speed tape-stripping technique fills this gap. It will allow researchers to rapidly screen drug release profiles in SC layer from topical formulations. The release profiling study is particularly critical for development of drugs that target SC layer, such as antifungals and keratolytics.
