ZIOPHARM Oncology, Inc. (ZIOP.OB) Announces Compelling Clinical Activity in Phase 1 Study of Ad-RTS IL-12 in Advanced Melanoma and Dosing of First Patient in Phase 2 Study

NEW YORK, Oct. 25, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ZIOPHARM Oncology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ZIOP), a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of new cancer therapies, today announced that compelling clinical activity was seen in its Phase 1 study of Ad-RTS IL-12, a novel DNA-based therapeutic candidate, in advanced melanoma. Based on early activity, and determination of a biologically effective dose, the Company also announced that the study has advanced to Phase 2 in which the first patient has been dosed.
