CHICAGO, March 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Zimmer Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ZMH; SIX: ZMH), a global leader in musculoskeletal health, is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of The Zimmer Institute. The Zimmer Institute offers orthopaedic surgeons and healthcare professionals a full range of training opportunities, including Medical Education, BioSkills Training and Surgeon-to-Surgeon programs, in a highly interactive environment. In 10 years of operation, The Zimmer Institute has trained over 100,000 surgeons.
The Zimmer Institute opened its doors in 2003, offering a series of BioSkills training modules hosted at Zimmer headquarters in Warsaw, Indiana and locations in Sydney, Australia and Paris, France. The Zimmer Institute has since undergone significant growth, and has offered courses in more than 60 countries.
"Staying at the forefront of professional medical education is a significant commitment Zimmer makes to our surgeon customers," said Audrey Beckman, Senior Vice President of Zimmer Global Medical Training and Education. "For 10 years, the Zimmer Institute has set the standard for surgeon education by developing a curriculum that has transformed the traditional classroom into a truly consultative collaboration with world-class faculty. Our surgeon customers have come to know the Zimmer Institute as a place that not only teaches the safe and effective use of our products, but where surgeons can also come to build and hone their skills."
In 2008, the Zimmer Institute collaborated with teaching surgeons and orthopaedic experts to combine its Medical Education, BioSkills Training and Surgeon-to-Surgeon programs into one consolidated service offering. Zimmer Institute course modules are tailored to match an individual surgeon's experience level, providing in-depth knowledge on products and procedures. Zimmer Institute courses have a high faculty-to-student ratio and incorporate new technologies, promoting greater interaction with faculty trainers and participant collaboration. Courses are offered at convenient locations worldwide, minimizing the time participants need to spend away from their practices.
