Ziehm Imaging Inc. Introduces Ziehm Solo C-arm, Featuring a Versatile set-up in the OR and Exceptional Image Quality

NUREMBERG, Germany, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- German medical device manufacturer Ziehm Imaging launched the new, compact Ziehm Solo(R) C-arm at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in Vienna. This agile and versatile C-arm delivers excellent image quality while requiring minimal OR space. The system provides flexible image display options and exceptional flexibility in connecting to existing OR monitors. Ziehm Solo was designed to meet the needs of pain management and orthopedic imaging as well as trauma and spine surgery. By virtue of its attractive price point, it is an interesting option for more limited hospital budgets.

Reduced radiation exposure

The space in the OR's sterile field is not only limited, but also in increasing demand as more and more devices are continually brought into this space. Ziehm Imaging responded to the requirements of small ORs by designing a system that occupies minimal space while providing optimal image processing and display. The CCD Camera can produce more than 4,000 gray scales. The optionally integrated metal correction program limits the over-exposure of a fluoroscopic image often caused by metal implants by recognizing metal objects (i.e. screws, plates, implants and instrumentation) in the field of view and adapting generator output accordingly. This is another way dose to the patient and OR staff may be reduced.

"The Ziehm Solo addresses especially the needs of the Orthopedic, Trauma and Spine Surgeon," explains Martin Herzmann, Global Marketing Director at Ziehm Imaging. "We aimed to develop a compact, flexible design with reduced space requirements. We've carried our experience and know-how in developing high-end systems over to our latest, more cost effective multi-purpose system. Our refined image processing is now available in our entire product folio. Ziehm Solo is especially interesting for smaller clinics and efficiency-driven facilities. It is a good choice because it requires minimal space, is exceptionally flexible and delivers an attractive price/performance ratio."

Space-saving in the OR

Ziehm Solo is available in three basic configurations. The most space-saving version functions without a separate workstation by providing C-arm mounted monitors on an articulating support arm. Since the C-arm supports standard video signals, existing external displays may be used as an alternative. This unique, flexible system may be seamlessly integrated into the existing infrastructure of the clinic by using existing ceiling-mounted or wall-mounted monitors for fluoroscopic display, eliminating the need for an additional monitor trolley. Wherever necessary, the C-arm may also be outfitted with an additional Ziehm Viewing Station. This combination provides any facility with the advantage of a custom set-up according to their needs.

Versatile User Interface

Ziehm Solo is simple to operate thanks to its intuitive user interface, compact design and especially ergonomic and flexible positioning. A high degree of automation ensures efficient workflow in the procedural suite. A DICOM port supports the transmission and storage of digital image data to any facility's IT network.
