Wound Monitor Could Help Patients and Save Health Services from Unnecessary Dressings

A device that monitors how well wounds are healing could bring faster relief to patients and save health services thousands of pounds from unnecessary dressings. The tiny sensor can be attached to the dressing and tell whether a wound is healing properly. The system, developed by bioengineers at the Strathclyde Institute for Medical Devices (SIMD), would mean doctors and nurses could check the conditions under the dressing without having to remove it.
