Week in Review: Mindray Medical Buys U.S. Ultrasound Company for $105 Million

June 15, 2013 -- Mindray Medical will pay $105 million to acquire Zonare Medical Systems, a California high-end ultrasound device maker; Simcere Pharma announced a third drug development collaboration with Bristol-Myers Squibb for a biologic arthritis treatment; Jiangsu Chia-tai Tianqing Pharma in-licensed China rights to a hepatitis C drug from an Israeli company, BioLineRx; Alliance Boots, the UK drug wholesaler and pharmacy chain, wants to do deals with China partners to expand its presence there; FortuneRock, a Beijing startup, sold non-exclusive US rights for neutropenia drug technology to an unnamed global top 10 pharma; and GlaxoSmithKline fired its head of China R&D after a journal article published by members of its China R&D staff was found to contain misrepresentations.
