WCCT Commits To Cardiovascular Research With AHA Certification At Phase 1 CPU

COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Full Service cardiovascular CRO WCCT Global has recently announced successful authorization as an American Heart Association training site, demonstrating their commitment towards not only advancing cardiovascular research, but towards actively treating heart disease related conditions in their community and abroad. The Phase 1 CPU, which is typically home to clinical studies in healthy volunteers and patient populations, has now trained nearly 100 staff members in providing Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. WCCT is currently home to two AHA-certified Instructors, one of whom is capable of training new instructors to continue educating others in treating life-threatening heart disease related conditions.

The cardiovascular CRO Phase 1 CPU, located in Cypress, California, is now a part of the National Registry of EMT Provider Sites, and has partnered with both CME Associates and Paramedic Advantage to be able to offer continuing education units for courses conducted at WCCT and validate EMT Skills for qualified participants who take the courses. The facility, which regularly conducts cardiovascular research by testing investigative treatments for heart disease, has furthered its capabilities in Emergency Response situations, providing training to over 130 employees. This training, while contributing mostly to cardiovascular clinical research, will supplement WCCT Global's capabilities while conducting all studies in terms of safety and response to emergencies.

Shadrach Smith, WCCT Global's Associate Director of Global Development & Training, AHA Training Site Coordinator, and one of two Instructors for the AHA courses, had this to say about the company's expanded capabilities in conducting cardiovascular research: "Since 1994 I have been on the other end of the cardiovascular spectrum, treating patients that are experiencing medical emergencies.  This is an exciting opportunity to bring that level of safety and training to this end of the spectrum where the valuable research is being done at WCCT Global to help prevent and more effectively treat those with these various disease processes." WCCT Global looks forward to continuing offering education and medical training opportunities for members of their organization as well as the public, including internships for medical education programs, and is committed to advancing cardiovascular research through clinical study, community involvement, partnerships with research institutes, and outreach.
