Ventus Medical Appoints Two Senior Executives

BELMONT, Calif., Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ventus Medical today announced the appointment of Sandra Gardiner to the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and Michael Lopez to the position of Vice President, Operations.

Ms. Gardiner comes to Ventus Medical from Vermillion, a publicly traded diagnostics company, where she served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. While at Vermillion she was instrumental in relisting the company's common stock on NASDAQ and completing a $25 million secondary offering. Prior to Vermillion, she served as Chief Financial Officer of Bend Research Inc., and as Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of Lipid Sciences, Inc. Ms. Gardiner received her B.S. in Managerial Economics from the University of California at Davis.

Dr. Lopez was previously the Vice President of Manufacturing and Operations at InSound Medical, where he led a broad organization in the very successful implementation of a cost-effective production process of a sophisticated hearing device. Prior to InSound, he held positions as the Director of Quality Systems and Plant Manager at Albany International, a global leader in advanced materials processing. Prior to Albany, Dr. Lopez progressed through the technical management ranks at Polaroid after serving with the U.S. Navy. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, an M.B.A. from the University of Rhode Island, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University, and a Doctorate of Management from Case Western Reserve University.
