University of Florida Grads Create Special Exercise Bike For Spinal Cord Injuries

The national spinal cord injury statistical center estimates that there are more than 12-thousand new spinal cord injuries in the US Every year. But two former UF students I spoke to say they're developing electrical stimulation bikes to help make moving a lot easier.

Matt Bellman and alan hamlet created Myolyn - a company that creates exercise bikes for people with spinal cord injuries - back in 2013 while students at the UF. "Matt and I were in graduate school together getting our PHD's in robotics here at UF and matt had been working on electrical stimulation technology. We actually took an entrepreneurship class together and began to explore the market," says Alan Hamlet, CEO.
