TRL Helps Increase Liver Awareness By Supporting Liver Research In October

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Oct. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- October is National Liver Awareness Month and in honor of the campaign, TRL has committed to donating a portion of its October profits to support the advancement of current liver research and hepatology practices.

TRL will donate funds towards research that will help treat and hopefully one day cure diseases like liver cancer and hepatitis.

"TRL is dedicated to furthering liver research in a variety of ways; whether it is by providing the highest quality hepatocytes to scientists around the world, collaborating with researchers in different disease and investigation areas, or directly donating to causes supporting these efforts,"  said TRL Executive Director Matt Sherman.

Liver Awareness Month is often dwarfed by Breast Cancer Awareness month, also in October, but supports public education on and mindfulness of the vital organ. According to the American Liver Foundation, thirty million Americans have one or more forms of liver disease. Financial donations to liver disease research helps fund current studies, increase the number of hepatology specialists, and encourage the sustainability of the field. The American Red Cross also encourages eligible donors to give blood in support of liver transplant patients.
