Traxtal to Introduce Next-Generation PercuNav System Cart at SIR Annual Scientific Meeting

Small, Light, Ergonomic PercuNav System Cart Allows Easier Operation and Improved Workflow for Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology

TORONTO, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Traxtal Inc., the pioneer and world leader in image guided soft tissue navigation, will introduce a newly designed system cart for the PercuNav interventional imaging and navigation system for soft tissue at Booth # 322 of the Society of Interventional Radiology's (SIR) Annual Scientific Meeting, March 7-12 in San Diego, CA.

"The new cart is straightforward to use and really improves the workflow," said Neil Glossop, President and CEO of Traxtal. "We believe that interventional radiologists will appreciate the reduced footprint, easier operation and ergonomic design of the new system cart."

PercuNav is a GPS for medical instruments, designed to make interventional radiology procedures more accurate while reducing contrast, radiation dose and interventional CT time. The PercuNav system works with single imaging modalities such as CT, MR or ultrasound and fused multimodality images including PET/CT and CT/Ultrasound.

Enhancements to the PercuNav system cart include:

About the PercuNav System

Instrument Tip Tracking and Navigation

The PercuNav system is the only computer assisted, image-guided interventional and diagnostic system cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for all imaging modalities. It tracks the tips of flexible and rigid instruments as they are navigated inside the patient and displays the instrument position and orientation on pre-procedure, intra-procedure and fused multimodality images. A wide range of tracked instrumentation is available including biopsy devices, RFA introducers, ultrasound trackers and probes, some as small as 0.75mm (22G).

Image Fusion

In addition to single modality navigation, PercuNav also synchronizes CT, MR, PET/CT and rotational fluoroscopy images with live ultrasound, combining the best attributes of each modality. The system can guide the user to corresponding locations in different modalities for greater certainty in target identification, while compensating for patient motion and respiration. It provides interventional radiologists and sonographers with the broadest image fusion capabilities available for soft tissue navigation.
