TRADE NEWS: Agilent Technologies Inc. Raises Standard For Routine Elemental Analysis With New ICP-MS System

Agilent 7800 Enables Fast Implementation, Easy Method Setup

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced the Agilent 7800 quadrupole ICP-MS, a system that sets a new standard for routine elemental analysis, at the American Society for Mass Spectrometry’s annual conference this week in St. Louis, Missouri.

“It enables fast implementation, easy method setup, and simpler routine operation for many common sample types and applications.”

The latest addition to Agilent’s industry-leading ICP-MS portfolio, the 7800 provides wide dynamic range, exceptional matrix-tolerance, and superior interference removal, together with optimization tools and documentation to simplify method development and operation.

“The new 7800 ICP-MS is solution-ready,” said Philip Binns, Agilent’s vice president of spectroscopy products. “It enables fast implementation, easy method setup, and simpler routine operation for many common sample types and applications.”

New features and automation tools make the 7800 easy to set up and operate. Agilent is offering industry-specific application packages to help users fast-track routine analyses.

Packages available now include those for drinking water, environmental waste and pharmaceutical applications. Packages for food testing and other applications will be available soon. The packages include standard operating procedures, method-specific batch templates and predefined report layouts.

The Agilent 7800 ICP-MS system was designed to meet the needs of industry and contract laboratories that want to simplify method development and increase productivity.

A new revision of Agilent ICP-MS MassHunter software includes preset methods for many common applications and a method wizard that builds a fully functioning method based on user input about application and sample types.

Agilent today also announced the availability of a new SPS 4 autosampler to help laboratories maximize productivity. The new four-rack autosampler is compatible with the company’s entire portfolio of Flame AA, MP-AES, ICP-OES and ICP-MS products.
