tosense Wins FDA Approval for Heart Monitoring Necklace

A San Diego startup toSense, which makes an in-home heart monitoring necklace aimed at preventing hospital readmissions for patients with chronic illnesses, said Wednesday it has received approval from federal regulators to launch its product.

The company has been operating under the radar for two years after it spun out of Perminova, which is working on cardiovascular and surgery information management software. But toSense has gotten more attention recently thanks to cardiologist Dr. Eric Topol, chief academic officer at Scripps Health.
