To Diagnose Parkinson’s, Track Speech, Michigan State University Study

A new way to diagnose Parkinson’s disease is noninvasive, inexpensive, and, in early testing, effective more than 90 percent of the time. The new method, which has the potential to track the progression of Parkinson’s and measure the effectiveness of treatments for the disorder, involves monitoring a patient’s speech patterns—specifically, movement patterns of the tongue and jaw.
