Titan Pharma Added To Russell 3000 Index

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - June 27, 2016) -

Titan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTNP), a specialty pharmaceutical company developing proprietary therapeutics for the treatment of select chronic diseases utilizing its ProNeura™ long-term, continuous drug delivery platform, today announced that it has been added to the broad U.S. market Russell® 3000 Index and the small-cap Russell 2000® Index as part of Russell Investments' annual reconstitution of its stock indexes, effective at the opening of U.S. markets today.

"We are very pleased to be added to the Russell 3000 and 2000 indexes and we look forward to the broader exposure and potential interest in the company among new institutional investors that inclusion provides," Titan CEO and President Sunil Bhonsle said. "Titan's inclusion in the Russell indexes comes on the heels of the recent approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of Probuphine for the maintenance treatment of opioid addiction, and we hope to continue this momentum through the planned development of additional products based on our ProNeura long-term, continuous drug delivery platform."

Annual reconstitution of the Russell U.S. indexes captures the 4,000 largest U.S. stocks as of the end of May, ranking them by total market capitalization. Membership in the U.S. all-cap Russell 3000 Index, which remains in place for one year, means automatic inclusion in the large-cap Russell 1000® Index or small-cap Russell 2000 Index as well as the appropriate growth and value style indexes. FTSE Russell determines membership for its Russell indexes by objective, market-capitalization rankings and style attributes.

Indexes provided by FTSE Russell, a leading global index provider, are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for active investment strategies. Approximately $6 trillion in assets are benchmarked against the Russell U.S. indexes.

About Titan Pharmaceuticals

Titan Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: TTNP), based in South San Francisco, CA, is a specialty pharmaceutical company developing proprietary therapeutics primarily for the treatment of serious medical disorders. The company's lead product is Probuphine®, a novel and long-acting formulation of buprenorphine for the long-term maintenance treatment of opioid dependence. Probuphine employs Titan's proprietary drug delivery system ProNeura™, which is capable of delivering sustained, consistent levels of medication for three months or longer. Titan has granted U.S. and Canadian commercial rights for Probuphine to Braeburn Pharmaceuticals. Probuphine is the first and only commercialized treatment of opioid dependence to provide continuous, around-the-clock blood levels of buprenorphine for six months following a single procedure. The ProNeura technology has the potential to be used in developing products for treating other chronic conditions, such as Parkinson's disease, where maintaining consistent blood levels of a therapeutic agent may benefit the patient and improve medical outcomes.
