Thermo Fisher Scientific (TMO) and Refine Technology Partner for Expanded Capabilities

7/19/2012 9:22:24 AM

Pine Brook, NJ, USA: July 19, 2012 - Refine Technology, LLC, (Refine), the developer and worldwide supplier to the biotech industry of the ATFT System, a best-in-class cell retention device, today announced partnering with Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, to expand the capabilities of for Thermo Scientific single-use bioreactors.

Customers can now integrate Thermo Scientific HyClone Single-Use Bioreactors

(S.U.B.) and Thermo Scientific HyPerforma Single-Use Bioreactor Turnkey (S.U.B. TK) systems with Refine's ATFT System for cell retention and perfusion applications. Integration of this technology enables customers to use pre-designed bioprocess container connections and industry standards to optimize their processes. This saves time and expense in bioprocessing.

More than 84 percent of large biopharmaceutical companies use the S.U.B. in their bioprocessing operations. Many of these have standardized on using Refine Technology's ATF System for implementing upstream process intensification.

"We have clients working with adherent cells on microcarriers and in extreme high-density suspension cultures at up to 2,000 L volume, each with different demands for connectivity between Refine's ATF System and Thermo Fisher's S.U.B.s," explained John Bonham-Carter, vice president of business development at Refine Technology. "The engineering improvements we can deliver together will mean a smoother transfer into manufacturing for our clients".

Initially, Refine has developed a simple specification and engineering tool to help users understand connectivity and integration between our product ranges. This can be found at: www.refinetech.com/atf-selector-tool.php.
