September 1, 2006 -- Bristol-Myers Squibb and Sanofi-Aventis won a partial victory in their patent suit against Apotex over the anti-clotting drug Plavix; Pfizer won a patent suit over hypertension drug Norvasc, a calcium channel blocker; Sanofi-Aventis began shipping Fluzone, its flu vaccine; Invitrogen bought fellow assay company Sentigen Holding for $25.9 million or $3.37 per share; Curis told Genentech it will quit their collaboration on a basal cell carcinoma drug; Dynavax closed an equity financing commitment of up to $30 million from Azimuth; and the FDA advised Dyax to conduct a small double-blind test of DX-88, a drug for hereditary angioedema.
