The Candidate Black Hole, Lack of Communication, and Respecting Job Seekers During an Economic Crisis

Recruiting Trends -- As a casualty of the economic crisis, I suddenly find myself on the candidate side in my understanding of Human Resources (HR) and how it functions within this market. Although this is not the first time that I have searched for new job opportunities, it is the first time I have experienced such widespread lack of communication throughout the application process. Having attended numerous lectures, tradeshows, and educational programs geared towards the HR industry, I have often heard talk of communication, candidate black holes, and keeping in touch with applicants. Naturally, I anticipated these principles to be reflected throughout my job search. But instead, I was surprised to find that the economy has changed the way that many HR departments are functioning.
