The BIO International Convention Kicks Off Four Days Of Breakthrough Programming In San Diego

World’s largest biotechnology event returns to the genomics capital of the world

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The 2017 BIO International Convention (BIO 2017), the world’s largest gathering of the biotechnology industry, today kicked off four days of inspiring keynotes with world luminaries, dynamic fireside chats with industry leaders and compelling educational programming united under the theme of “Breakthrough.”

Hosted by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), BIO 2017 this year returns to the San Diego Convention Center, where 16,000 biotechnology industry leaders from 48 states and 76 countries will gather to examine the insights, challenges and opportunities surrounding the next generation of biotechnology innovations.

BIO 2017 will feature 1,800 exhibitors and will likely include 40,000 partnering meetings facilitated through BIO’s One-on-One Partnering™ system.

  • Keynote: David Cameron, Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
    Tuesday, June 20
    David Cameron will be interviewed by BIO President & CEO Jim Greenwood for a worldly discussion on the rapidly changing political landscape both in the United States and abroad. BIO will also recognize BioGENEius student award winners and introduce BIO’s new Board Chair, John Maraganore, Ph.D.

Media registration is open on Monday from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the San Diego Convention Center. The majority of attendees, 70 percent, are c-level executives. They split evenly from large companies of 500 or more employees and small companies of 50 employees or less.
