Sysmex America, Inc. Appoints Ramon Simon-Lopez, M.D. Medical Director

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., May 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sysmex America, Inc., a global leader in medical diagnostic testing equipment and information systems technology, announces today that Ramon Simon-Lopez, M.D. has been appointed Medical Director. In his role, Dr. Simon-Lopez will be responsible for pre-market scientific and applications-based research activities for all specialties, including hematology, urinalysis, flow cytometry and hemostasis. He will work closely with Sysmex Corporation helping to increase the clinical value of Sysmex instruments.

Dr. Simon-Lopez is an expert in hematology with considerable knowledge in medical research and scientific studies. Previously, he served as European Scientific Manager and Global Scientific Director at Beckman Coulter.

Prior to that, Dr. Simon-Lopez ran a private practice in Internal Medicine and Hematology. He also served as Hematology Scientific Manager for Isaza S.A. and held medical positions in Hematology at the La Alianza Clinic and Hospital Clinic of Barcelona in Spain.

Dr. Simon-Lopez holds several patents and is a published author of scientific papers with over 100 articles and communications attributed to his name. He is a member of the International Council for Standardization in Hematology (ICSH) and serves as a reviewer for the International Journal of Laboratory Hematology (IJLH). Dr. Simon-Lopez earned his graduate degree in medicine from the University of Barcelona.
