Sysmex America Announces Leadership Promotions

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., March 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sysmex America, Inc. (SAI), a leading provider of automated hematology and urinalysis diagnostic testing equipment as well as middleware information systems technology, today announced multiple leadership moves to further the company's growth and prominence throughout North and South America. All changes will be effective April 3, 2017.

John Kershaw, currently chairman of the board, chief executive officer and president of SAI, will accept a greater role in Sysmex Corporation at its headquarters in Kobe, Japan. Kershaw will be deputy in charge of the divisions of business strategy development, hematology/urinalysis, immunochemistry/clinical chemistry/hemostasis and engineering.  Kershaw will retain the title of chairman of SAI.  Kershaw was a founding member of Sysmex U.K. Limited in 1991, came to SAI in 1999 and has been CEO since 2009.

Ralph Taylor will be elevated to chief executive officer of SAI and will assume day-to-day management and strategy for the region. Taylor will also continue to strategically lead the greater Latin American region and growing the flow cytometry business. Taylor has been with SAI since 2007 in an executive vice president position. 

Andy Hay will be promoted to chief operating officer of SAI with increased responsibility for all the commercial functions of the business including customer technical service, sales, marketing and enterprise training. Hay, a founding member of Sysmex U.K. Limited in 1991, has been with SAI for 17 years in a variety of leadership roles, most recently as executive vice president.

Alex Garini will continue in the role of chief financial officer responsible for finance, accounting, enterprise systems and operations.  In an expanded role, Garini will oversee the company's manufacturing facilities in the region.  Garini joined SAI in 2013 after a long career at Siemens Healthcare where he had increasing responsibilities in finance.
