Sun BioPharma Raises $2.0 Million Through Private Placement Transaction

MINNEAPOLIS, June 28, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sun BioPharma, Inc. (OTCPink:SNBP), a biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutics for the treatment of patients with pancreatic diseases, today announced sales of equity securities resulting in total proceeds of $2.0 million.  The sales were pursuant to initial closings under a private placement and resulted in the issuance of approximately 2.0 million shares of common stock and five-year warrants to purchase approximately 1.0 million additional shares of common stock at an exercise price of $1.50 per share.  Each share of common stock was accompanied by a warrant to purchase one-half share of common stock.  Sun BioPharma plans to use the proceeds to fund the continuing Phase 1 study of its initial product candidate, SBP-101, for pancreatic cancer as well as preclinical efforts to further study the impact of SBP-101 on pancreatitis.

This funding was accomplished through a combination of new investors and existing shareholders, including board members and all of the company’s executive officers.
