October 07, 2009, California, US – Strand Life Sciences, Pioneers in Discovery
Research Informatics, today announced that, “Thon de Boer” former Sr. Product
Manager-Bioinformatics at Complete Genomics and Product manager for GeneSpring
family of products, at Agilent Technology has joined Strand as the company's Director of
Product Management, Software.
This newly created product management role is designed to expand on Strand’s current
leadership position in innovation through an increased rate of new product introductions
and expanded R&D programs. His primary responsibilities at Strand will include
managing and expanding Strand’s software product portfolio activities from concept to
customer and providing strategic direction for software product development.

Thon’s outstanding resume includes over 14 years of hands-on experience in product
management, as a researcher and manager in both international research institutes and
commercial enterprises. Thon is an undergraduate in Biology and a Ph.D. in Molecular
Biology from VU University, Amsterdam. He has been instrumental in the success of
many of the standard software applications that are being used in thousands of labs all
around the world and has a passion in making the complex algorithms used in modern
Biology accessible to everyone.
