7/13/2012 10:33:28 AM

Boerne, TX – July 2012 – Stanbio Laboratory will showcase its marquee ß-Hydroxybutyrate LiquiColor® enzymatic reagent system at booth 1631 during the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Clinical Lab Expo. Stanbio Laboratory and its parent company, EKF Diagnostics, will also host a symposium entitled “The value, efficacy, and efficiency of ß-Hydroxybutyrate,” presented by renowned point-of-care expert Dr. James H. Nichols, Professor of Pathology at Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, and Medical Director of Clinical Chemistry for Baystate Health in Springfield, Massachusetts.

“We’ve got an incredible story to share at this year’s Clinical Lab Expo,” said William R. Pippin, President of Stanbio Laboratory. “Our ß-Hydroxybutyrate LiquiColor® reagent system is quickly becoming the gold standard in testing for diabetic ketoacidosis. We’re very proud to have Dr. James H. Nichols presenting case studies to demonstrate the clinical efficacy of ß-Hydroxybutyrate LiquiColor® reagent system at this year’s expo,” Pippin added.

“Sales of the ß-Hydroxybutyrate LiquiColor® reagent system have exceeded our expectations,” said Gilbert A. Mejia, Stanbio Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We’re finding the number of hospitals adding this assay has increased dramatically in just the past six months. We are extremely proud of the fact that so many of the most renowned and respected diabetes and endocrinology hospitals in the United States have chosen to use our reagent,” Mejia added.

Dr. Nichols will discuss the merits of the various methods of testing for diabetic ketoacidosis, including ß-Hydroxybutyrate. The free symposium will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, Los Angeles (15 minutes’ walk from the LA Convention Center). Early reservation via marketing@stanbio.com is recommended as seating is limited.
