St. Jude Medical Replaces Medtronic, Inc. in Purchasing Deal; Buyer's Group Includes Mayo Clinic

St. Jude Medical Inc. has taken over a group-purchasing contract that once was held by competitor Medtronic Inc. The move comes a couple of months after Medtronic had canceled two group-purchasing contracts in a controversial move that drew the attention of Congress. The Upper Midwest Consolidated Services Center (UMCSC) said in a news release that it awarded a one-year contract for cardiac rhythm management (CRM) products to Little Canada-based St. Jude (NYSE: STJ).
