SoBran Expands Research Operations to Support Biotech Industry Growth

7/20/2009 1:56:58 PM

Fairfax, Va. (July 20, 2009) – SoBran, Inc., an ISO 9001:2008-certified biomedical services company, today announced that it will open a state of the art laboratory animal care facility to support some of the world’s most advanced medical research. The company has signed a 5-year lease for 4,500 square feet of lab and office space at the Science & Technology Park at Johns Hopkins University.

SoBran’s facility is part of the East Baltimore Development Inc. (EBDI) Science and Industry Park at Johns Hopkins University, a $1.8-billion urban development initiative that is fueling life sciences, retail, and commercial growth in the city of Baltimore.

The new operation diversifies SoBran’s portfolio of support services and technical capabilities, opening new areas such as transgenic animal production, genotyping, histopathology and preclinical toxicology, in addition to comprehensive animal care, veterinary, and technical support. This deeper, full-suite of offerings positions SoBran to expand further into the commercial market and enhance service to existing customers, including government agencies and academic institutions.

Widely recognized for its expertise in biomedical and environmental research support and laboratory animal care, SoBran’s scientists and technicians have supported major research advances related to infectious disease (AIDS, SARS, Influenza), heart disease, vaccine development, and environmental protection.
