Six Years Jail For Phosphagenics Limited Biotech Fraudster Esra Ogru

A FORMER biotech executive has been sentenced to six years in prison for orchestrating an elaborate scam to steal more than $6 million of company money.

Esra Ogru — a respected scientist once viewed as “the next big thing” in the Australian biotech scene — rose to senior roles at Phosphagenics Ltd (POH) while she was using fake invoices and credit card claims to finance her lavish lifestyle.

Ogru, 39, pleaded guilty to seven charges of obtaining financial advantage by deception from the company and its subsidiary Vital Health Sciences, following an ASIC investigation.
