Siemens and Sysmex America are committed to building future offerings that add clinical value and streamline urinalysis testing. The agreement enables combined technologies to provide a highly regarded, fully automated urine chemistry analyzer with a fully automated urine sediment analyzer to equip lab personnel with complete walk-away testing from start to finish.

"Siemens is a clear global leader in diagnostic urinalysis," said Arnd Kaldowski, senior vice president, Point of Care Business, Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics. "The expansion of this successful collaboration reinforces our commitment to building offerings that add clinical value and streamline urinalysis testing. "We believe the continuance of our working relationship with Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics will serve our companies' laboratory customers to improve their operational efficiencies within the framework of a challenging healthcare environment," said John Kershaw, president, Sysmex America, Inc.

The Siemens urinalysis product portfolio is one of the most widely used in the world, and delivers important clinical information for many medical conditions and diseases such as kidney function, urinary tract infections, carbohydrate metabolism, and liver function. Sysmex's introduction of the world's first fully automated urine cell analyzer in 1995 has transformed urinalysis from a typically time-consuming and labor-intensive process to an unattended one.
