The Georgia Department of Labor reported a round of layoffs that will cost Georgia 170 jobs.

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based G4S Government Solutions Inc., the U.S. government’s largest contractor for professional security services, will cut 31 jobs at Ft. Gordon, Ga., and 26 jobs at Ft. Gillem in Forest Park, Ga. The company said the cuts are related to contracts that end Sept. 30.

Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc. cut 113 jobs in Atlanta. The company provides medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics, medical information technology and hearing aids. Atlanta Business Chronicle awaits a response from Siemens about the layoffs.

“Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics is changing the business structure of its Atlanta-based Parts Center that will result in Sanmina-SCI Corp. taking over day-to-day operations at the facility,” the company told Atlanta Business Chronicle in a statement. “Under this new arrangement, Sanmina-SCI Corp. will now oversee all parts repair and instrument refurbishment in Atlanta for Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics and its customers... Siemens anticipates that most of its highly skilled Parts Center employees will transition to comparable positions with Sanmina-SCI by the end of September.”
